Tabula rasa
´The central idea of the room is to find a balance between the useful and the abstract. The two main elements define space while at the same time encourage freedom of exploration. The oversized, low bed extends into a platform, a playroom which the child transforms repeatedly. The room becomes a playground where the border between children’s imagination and the functional design of the objects is blurred. The material we used is quite present in the furniture industry, but in most cases, it remains hidden and unrecognizable. In this room, however, the MDF itself gets the lead role. Its rawness and unrefined nature caught our attention. The dialogue between the unconventionality of materials and their everyday use led us to question the importance of precious.´
